Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa reopens after extensive renovation
October 2025. A new era begins as Europe’s legendary grand hotel makes its return, surrounded by the unique charm of the Black Forest and the cultural heartbeat of Baden-Baden. After two years of meticulous transformation, Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, the storied grande dame of the Oetker hotels, once again opens its doors.
The hotel once again sets new standards for its time-honoured hospitality, now combined with contemporary comfort and modern elegance. For more than 150 years, Brenners has defined Europe’s grand hotel culture. At last, it returns as a haven of joy and indulgence, nestled between the serene Lichtentaler Allee and the fairytale charm of Baden-Baden.
“This is far more than a reopening – it is a true renaissance.
We have honoured the unique heritage of Brenners while creating a personal and refined atmosphere that reflects how today’s guest wishes to travel and live: surrounded by beauty, nature, and purpose.”
Stephan Boesch, Managing Director, Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa
Tradition Meets Contemporary Design
The redesign was led by Countess Bergit Douglas, daughter of Rudolf-August Oetker and Creative Director of MM-Design. She combines European elegance with vibrant individuality. The result: 27 unique room and suite concepts, each with its own character. The new aesthetic blends the glamorous Beaux-Arts style of the 19th century with the bold charm of English interior design, featuring richly patterned textiles, antique furnishings, and handcrafted trunks from local artisans. Countess Douglas also designed the new accommodations at sister property Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
Luxurious fabrics and wall coverings from Colefax & Fowler, Pierre Frey, and De Gournay add warmth and texture to every room. The color palette ranges from coral and pastel blue to deep forest green and soft ivory, turning each room into a jewel box filled with comfort and character.
The bathrooms shine in elegant marble, complemented by modern lighting systems and artisanal fixtures. New family rooms and suites on the fifth floor offer more connecting options than ever before, ideal for multi-generational travel. Historic details such as 19th-century wooden beams have been revealed for the first time, allowing the hotel’s storied past to resonate through its walls.
“Brenners has always embodied refined individuality. This renovation has not only renewed spaces, it has reignited the spirit of the house. True luxury lives in the values we uphold: a sense of family, timeless elegance, and genuine warmth.”
Timo Gruenert, CEO, Oetker Hotels
Travel with a New Perspective
At the heart of the renewed Brenners experience lies Brenners Spa & Wellbeing, an award-winning sanctuary where high-tech diagnostics meet holistic therapies. From Augustinus Bader facials and detox rituals to forest bathing and candle sound baths, the spa offers a retreat for body, mind, and soul. Brenners Medical Care combines world-class diagnostics with individually tailored health programs, all within the discreet and comfortable atmosphere of a grand hotel. Guests are not treated as patients, but as individuals supported in finding long-term wellbeing and a true sense of quality of life.
The hotel also provides the perfect starting point to explore culture and nature alike: private access to the Festspielhaus and the Frieder Burda Museum, open-air yoga sessions, vineyard picnics, or horse races in Iffezheim combine tranquility and adventure with an unmistakable European flair. Whether for an opera weekend, a family holiday, a wellness escape, or a romantic getaway – Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa opens up a unique and fascinating world for every guest.
Commitment to Sustainability
The legendary renovation of Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa places corporate social responsibility at the core of its transformation. Throughout the project, the hotel has proven that luxury and ecological responsibility can go hand in hand: from upcycling historic wallpapers and repurposing old fabrics into notebooks, cushion covers, and bookmarks, to carefully preserving centuries-old bricks and timber materials.
Regional and sustainable materials were consciously selected wherever possible – from locally sourced wood to the restoration of the slate roof using 65,000 regionally quarried tiles, and the upcycling of Dornbracht bathroom fittings, which saved around 40 percent of CO₂ compared to new production. Innovative heating and cooling systems powered by local district energy further reduce the property’s ecological footprint while ensuring the highest level of guest comfort.
Through close collaboration with local businesses, Brenners not only strengthened the economic foundation of southwest Germany but also safeguarded jobs, supported training programs, and enabled its team of nearly 300 employees to gain valuable international experience during the renovation phase.
