Palazzo Musmeci Joins The ThinkingTraveller Collection
September 2025. Baroque dreams in Sicily: A ballroom for lavish celebrations, a private chapel, six elegant bedrooms, and a courtyard watched over by a centuries-old magnolia and a Poseidon fountain—Palazzo Musmeci in Acireale, a 17th-century baroque gem, now shines in renewed splendour following an extensive restoration.

From the very first moment, the palazzo enchants with theatrical beauty, rich history, and the rare ability to make each guest feel part of something meaningful and unique. The charismatic owner and his wife—a dynamic couple in their 40s—have breathed new life into the spaces with antique furnishings, modern accents, and an impeccable sense of style.
The property spans two floors, connected by a monumental staircase. Highlights include the light-filled Saletta Blu overlooking Piazza San Domenico, a majestic ballroom (perfect for private events), and an intimate chapel. Six bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms combine classical elegance with modern comfort, while several rooms open directly onto the lush courtyard—a green oasis with a baroque Poseidon fountain and an ancient magnolia tree.

Additional features include a swimming pool with herringbone tiles, an elegant portico with lounge area, a bar corner, and a panoramic terrace overlooking the rooftops of Acireale. In the characterful kitchen, the private chef takes guests on a culinary journey through the flavours of Sicily.
The owner’s family also manages Don Venerando, the boutique hotel Donna Carmela, and Radicepura, the botanical garden that hosts the renowned Radicepura Garden Festival.
Through the grand portal on Piazza San Domenico, guests enter a house full of stories. Frescoes, stucco work, and majolica tiles speak of its past—as an aristocratic residence and a retreat for kings such as Ferdinand IV of the Two Sicilies and Umberto I of Savoy.
„Sicily is not only my home—it is also where our journey with The Thinking Traveller began. To welcome a property like Palazzo Musmeci into our collection, a place full of history, beauty, and memory, is a great honour. That owners of houses with such historical and emotional value entrust us with their precious residences is the greatest recognition for the work we have passionately pursued for over 20 years.“
